What your visit could include
Tour of Hill Holt Wood
Wave to the Peacocks as we take a woodland walk explaining all about the flora, fauna and ecosystem relationships at an appropriate level. Spot wildlife with our nature enthusiasts and see real life examples of our iconic eco-buildings scattered around the site. Learn what being a social enterprise means to us and get inspired to spread the word of sustainability!
Eco Building
Educating each group of the drawbacks of modern conventional construction, teaching alternative construction techniques in a theoretical and practical based workshop. Taught by our design team, specialists in sustainable architectural design, participants will apply learnt principles in a real life Strawbale Build and Reciprocal Framing activity. Suitable for all ages and tailored to suit all skill levels up to University level.
Ecological Surveying
To connect participants with nature, Hill Holt Wood host activities including: identify trees and plant species using Quadrats and Clinometers, hunt for Minibeasts and other animal species in our popular pond dipping activity and survey the pollution levels of ponds around our 34 acre woodland showing the effects cars and other harmful activities may have on wildlife.
Bushcraft
Fire lighting and den building are two of our most popular activities and essential in learning wilderness survival skills. Groups will learn how to light a controlled fire using flint and steel alongside den building techniques, learning the value of teamwork in a race against sunset.
Team Building Activities
Suitable for all ages, skill levels and educational needs, we use games such as Hanoi Towers, Lava Heist and Noughts & Crosses to show the true value of teamwork in these friendly engaging activities. Both mathematical and physical, these activities will spark imagination in problem solving strategies & endurance and show the value each and every team member can have regardless of their unique skill sets.
