Education & Courses
About
The diverse education we offer at HHW allows us to engage young people of all ages and abilities. We provide reintegration programmes and bespoke placements for the Local Authority from Key Stage 1 through to the end of their secondary education in Year 11. For young people who are accessing a mainstream or specialist school, but would benefit from an alternative timetable, we offer an enrichment programme based around woodland maintenance and eco-construction skills. Our recent development within our education provision is that of EHCP/SEND placements; our small group sizes and ability to design bespoke courses enable us to create a positive, alternative education experience.
Study Programme
Set in a beautiful woodland, Hill Holt Wood’s study programme offers a unique opportunity to get out of the classroom and spend time in the natural environment. The aim of the study programme is to maximise the potential of young people aged 16-19 (or up to 24 with EHCP) through our vocational courses. We support our learners with their progression into employment or further learning with a dedicated careers advice programme
School Referrals
Hill Holt Wood offers a unique opportunity for young people who may need alternative curriculum provision to support their current education setting. We work with a growing number of local schools and authorities to provide school referral programmes for all Key Stages. Our provision includes enrichment activities for Key Stages 1, 2 and 3 with bespoke accredited courses available for Key Stage 4

School & Higher Education Visits
Working closely with schools and higher education providers, Hill Holt Wood hosts tailored visits to suit individual needs. From den building and fire lighting with Primary school groups, to workshops in woodland management and natural building for Universities, we can run a range of activities that will make your Hill Holt Wood experience fun and educational
Workshops
We host natural building workshops for groups of individuals in Log Cabin Building, Straw Bale Building and Reciprocal Framing. Our certified qualifications are suited to those interested in the built environment with a strong sustainable agenda. We will teach you the basics to inspire your own projects in a theoretical and practical-based activity workshop, allowing you to get hands on applying learnt knowledge in a real life example
